What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is an approach used by Certified Animal Chiropractors to enable the animal’s body to function at its optimal level by eliminating restriction on the nerves, reducing muscle spasm, improving circulation and restoring joint function.  Chiropractic uses non-invasive, drug free modalities to accomplish these goals thereby alleviating pain and restoring function to the nervous system.

Is Chiropractic Safe and Do The Treatments Hurt?
In the hands of a Chiropractor trained and certified in animal chiropractic care, Chiropractic is a gentle and safe method for your animal in most cases. Animal Chiropractors work in conjunction with your  Veterinarian to ensure appropriate, safe treatment for your animal.
In the State of Texas, a referral form must be signed by your veterinarian who has an established doctor/client/patient relationship with you and your animal.
In some cases your veterinarian may request to examine your animal or take radiographic imaging prior to seeing the chiropractor.
The treatments generally do not cause pain. Animals who present with moderate to severe pain may experience some discomfort initially because of the underlying injury or dysfunction, but Dr. Heller takes your animal’s symptoms into consideration while formulating a personalized treatment plan utilizing gentle, safe and effective treatment to allow your companion’s body to heal faster and achieve normal function and mobility.

How Do I Know If My Animal Needs A Chiropractor?
Animals communicate their pain and discomfort in ways not dissimilar to humans, and often observation of changes in behavior, gait, appetite or energy level can signal that your animal might be in some level of discomfort and would benefit from Chiropractic care.  Some of the signs and symptoms are listed below. Dr. Heller welcomes your call to discuss your animal’s symptoms and to determine whether your animal has a problem or condition she can help.

What Conditions or Symptoms can Chiropractic Help?
The following are some of the most common symptoms that Animal Chiropractic care can help with. Please note this list is not conclusive. Chiropractic care is a wonderful means of keeping your animal’s spine and joints healthy!  Just because your pet is not showing signs of discomfort does not mean they do not have joint dysfunction.
